Abstract
This conference is dedicated to recent advances in the control theory of partial differential equations (PDEs) and their wide-ranging applications. Control theory stands today as one of the most dynamic and influential branches of applied mathematics, providing both rigorous theoretical foundations, rooted in analysis, geometry, and dynamical systems, and powerful practical tools for addressing challenging problems across science, engineering, and artificial intelligence.
The scientific program will feature key breakthroughs in the controllability, stabilization, and optimization of PDEs, together with recent progress in their numerical and computational treatment. Selected aspects of geometric control and the geometric analysis of controlled systems will also be touched upon. To further illustrate how modern control theory interacts with and enriches neighboring fields, the conference will explore its connections with stochastic analysis, data-driven methodologies, and machine learning.
A central objective of the workshop is to showcase the broad real-world impact of control theory, spanning fluid dynamics and continuum mechanics, mathematical biology, and emerging data-driven domains. By bringing together leading experts and young researchers from China and the wider international community at the Tsinghua Sanya International Mathematics Forum, the event aims to foster new international collaborations, support the next generation of mathematicians, and help chart the future trajectory of control theory and its applications.
